I skipped the offset and crossed my fingers. My first attempt involved cutting the black outline slightly larger than the window, thinking I\u2019d trim it after application. That turned out to be a headache, it was hard to center and even harder to trim. So, I pivoted: I left a gap between the black outline and the window edge, then filled it in later with pre-cut black vinyl strips. Much easier.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preparing the Surface<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The windows hadn\u2019t been cleaned in years. I scraped off the buildup and wiped them down with plain water and cheap paper towels. Clean surfaces are non-negotiable for vinyl application.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Applying the Black Outline<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Each black outline measured 24\u201d x 28\u201d\u2014large enough to require transfer tape and application fluid. After spraying both the vinyl and the window, my helper climbed the ladder and positioned the design. I squeegeed thoroughly, but the transfer tape wouldn\u2019t release. So, I moved on, applying all six outlines before returning to peel the tape. That extra time made all the difference.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bringing the Windows to Life<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This was my favorite part\u2014watching each window come alive with color. I referenced a photo of the design on my computer to guide placement. Some pieces looked similar but weren\u2019t interchangeable, so I labeled each with an arrow to indicate orientation.<\/p>\n<p>Most colored pieces were under 4\u201d, except for the cross. I peeled and applied each one by hand\u2014no transfer tape needed. I sprayed the back with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhsignsupply.com\/productcart\/pc\/Rapid-Tac-32-oz-W-Sprayer-343p41740.htm\">Rapid Tac<\/a>, placed it inside the black outline, and used a felt-edge squeegee to press out the fluid. Wetting the felt with water helped prevent scratching the vinyl. Despite skipping the offset, the pieces fit perfectly.<\/p>\n<p>Even the large yellow cross went on smoothly with just the application fluid.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Final Touches<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To finish, I added black trim around each window using 5\/8\u201d matte black vinyl strips. I was amazed\u2014no pieces needed to be recut, and everything applied beautifully.<\/p>\n<p>This might be my favorite project I\u2019ve ever done. It was simple, budget-friendly, and made a bold statement in our sanctuary.
