Oracal 651 Permanent Vinyl – A Great Choice For Projects

Orafol is a leading brand in the vinyl industry, and its Oracal 651 series is one of the most popular products among vinyl users. Oracal 651 is an intermediate vinyl that offers high quality, durability, and versatility. It has a permanent solvent-based adhesive that can withstand up to 6 years of outdoor exposure, and it is thinner than most intermediate types of vinyl at 2.5 mil thick, which makes it easier to work with. Oracal 651 also has a wide range of colors to choose from, including 16 new matte colors that were added recently. Matte colors are trendy right now, but they are also timeless. Whether you prefer gloss or matte, you can find the perfect color for your vinyl projects with Oracal 651.

Here are some of the reasons why you should choose Oracal 651 matte vinyl for your next project.

– It has a matte finish that reduces glare and gives a smooth and elegant look to your designs.

– It is permanent and outdoor rated, meaning it can withstand weather conditions and UV exposure for up to 6 years.

– It is easy to cut, weed, and apply.

– It is easy to cut with a variety of machines, such as Cricut, Silhouette, Brother, Roland, and Graphtec.

– It comes in a wide range of colors and sizes.

– It is compatible with most transfer tapes, making transferring your designs to different surfaces easy.

– It is affordable and offers great value compared to other vinyl brands.

I was inspired by the variety of colors available in matte, so I created this cute door hanger using the Oracal 651 Matte. The colors I used were 010M Matte White (an original 651 matte color), 034 Matte Orange, and 040 Matte Violet. I had this matte black wooden piece in my stash. I think I bought it from a craft store when it was on sale.

I cut the Matte Oracal 651 vinyl on my Silhouette Cameo machine with the same cut settings that I normally use for other intermediate vinyls. The matte finish did not cause any problems during the cutting process, and it was easy to weed. I used the GT100 transfer tape, which worked well with the vinyl. The only challenge was to adhere the vinyl to the wood surface. The wood also had a matte finish, which made it harder for the vinyl to stick. I had to apply more pressure and add a little time and patience to make sure the vinyl was secure. It had some grooves to give it a pallet look, but the hanging string was on the wrong side for my design. I fixed that by cutting the string and stapling it again so the grooves would be horizontal.  I attached a bow to match the design and I am pleased with the result, I think the matte finish adds a nice touch. I will use these matte colors again for future projects.

The matte colors are awesome for indoor projects because they don’t have the glare that gloss vinyl has under artificial light. Just be careful not to use permanent adhesive vinyl on any surface that could be damaged when removed, such as painted walls or doors.  It will peel the paint and/or the drywall with it when removed.

Oracal 651 is a great vinyl for many projects. If you are looking for a high-quality, durable, and versatile vinyl material for personalized gifts, home décor, art, crafts, signage, decals, glass, cups, notebooks, mirrors, scrapbooks, or stickers, you should consider Oracal 651 vinyl.  You can find Oracal 651 matte vinyl here:
