Default MacTac inkjet printable vinyl review

I just printed some MacTac inkjet printable vinyl from H&H and am here to say it works very good. I ran some thru an Epson 1100 with very good results. Also thru an Epson 7700 24" printer with even better results.....better color control and media setup in the windows drivers.
The Epson 1100 will print up to 11"x44". If you have a 12"x24" truck print this inexpensive printer will be an inexpensive entry to full color digital printing. For outdoor durability laminate with a UV clear film material and expect 2+ years durability of more depending on your location. With a Graphtec CE5000 or a Roland GX24 you can print and cut printed graphics from your desktop printer.
I also highly recommend using original OEM pigment inks in any printer for best results and longevity.
The cost should be about $2.00 per sq ft with this set up. Laminate using hand tool and re-burnishing to remove "silvering". (just like applying vinyl)
A great tool to look into is The Big Squeegee. Worth every penny..... google big squeegee and take a look.

I know there are some of you out there printing on vinyl and other media with pigment printers so let's get some dialogue about this smaller format affordable solution.
What are you printing with, what media and what is your work flow? How do you use this in your business?

I have a couple samples of Mactac from the company website and really like it. I am going to order some from H&H, but debating on permanent or removable. I want to do some stickers for kids, notebooks, maybe lockers, etc. I was thinking removable so they would be safer for more applications. Just don't want them to start sagging after a while.
Anyone have long term experience with how the 2 different adhesives hold up? Is removable still nice and sticky? I haven't printed my sample yet, so I don't know myself.

Either will work well for you but the permanent adhesive will adhere longer but will be more difficult to remove. A little heat from a hair dryer will improve the removal. Then clean surface with 90% denatured alcohol to remove any adhesive remaining. You can also use any adhesive remover also. Cleaning the surface with the alcohol will improve installing. These methods are for installing and removing any vinyl.
you may want to laminate the prints with film laminate or a clear UV spray like Clear Shield gloss or satin. Other clear or clear UV sprays will also work. Using UV is best for outdoor install to prevent fading.

I popped on to ask about some inkjet printable vinyl, and saw this post right away. I have been networking and there is some interest in some water safe labels, for people who make bath and body products. Would you recommend this?

Yes with a laminate, film or liquid.
The MacTac printable vinyl and the matching MacTac film laminate make a good combination since both are highly flexible making a nice finished product.

I bought the Epson 1100 a couple of weeks ago and then placed an order for this vinyl; I had problems trying to get the vinyl to feed properly and kept jamming. I have been cutting the vinyl free hand to go into the printer which could be part of my problem. I'm really just looking for some advice, tips, tricks or any of the above on getting this stuff to fed properly, I have been cutting vinyl for a little over a year now but I am new to printing vinyl and contour cutting so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

If you are cutting it is the edge smooth? MacTac is thin enough not to have a problem, Make sure the edge is square and smooth. I have printed on thicker material than MacTac on an Epson 1100.

An Epson 1100 will print 13" wide and up to 44" long. You can fee the factory edge in from the roll but I have an Epson 1100, an Epson NX510 desktop all in one and an Epson 24" 7700 and feed sheets that have been cut with a rotary cutter and an aluminum straight edge. Of course the 7700 also use roll material. For all high quality inks take a look at Print Country, Best Discount Printer Ink Cartridges, Compatible Inkjet Cartridges, Electronics & Office Supplies - PrintCountry Store. They sell OEM and after market inks that are equal to the OEM in quality.
